Terms and Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the SCC Online website and any services offered through this website.

By using this website, submitting an enquiry, completing an enrolment form, registering interest, or making payment for any programme, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

1. About SCC Online

SCC Online is an online education programme delivered as a joint venture between St Charles College in Pietermaritzburg and Hatfield Christian School in Pretoria.

The programme currently offers Cambridge IGCSE tutoring and Cambridge teacher training. A full Cambridge online school is in development and will be announced in due course.

All tutoring and teacher training sessions are delivered online via live video or other approved digital platforms.

2. Use of This Website

You may use this website to learn more about SCC Online, submit an enquiry, register interest, complete an enrolment form, and access information about our programmes.

You agree not to use this website in any way that is unlawful, harmful, misleading, abusive, disruptive, or that may interfere with the security or proper functioning of the website.

3. Enquiries and Enrolment

Submitting an enquiry or enrolment form does not automatically guarantee placement in a tutoring group, teacher training programme, or future online school programme.

Placement is subject to availability, subject offering, student suitability, cohort capacity, diagnostic assessment outcomes, payment confirmation, and any other requirements communicated by SCC Online.

We aim to respond to enquiries and enrolment requests within the timeframes stated on the website, but response times may vary during busy periods.

4. Diagnostic Assessment

Every new tutoring student may be required to complete a short diagnostic assessment before their first session.

The diagnostic assessment is used to understand the student’s current level, subject gaps, and placement needs. It does not guarantee a particular result, mark, group allocation, or academic outcome.

5. Tutoring Sessions

Tutoring sessions are delivered online in small groups by qualified Cambridge subject specialists.

Students are expected to attend sessions on time, participate appropriately, complete any required preparation or follow-up work, and behave respectfully towards teachers and other students.

Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that the student has access to a stable internet connection, a suitable device, a quiet learning environment, and any required learning materials.

6. Teacher Training

Teacher training programmes are designed for educators working within or interested in the Cambridge system.

Registration for teacher training may be subject to availability, minimum numbers, payment, and any additional criteria communicated before the programme begins.

7. Payments

Tutoring is invoiced per block of sessions and must be paid in advance unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Once an enrolment request is approved, a secure payment link or payment instructions will be sent to the parent or guardian by email.

A student’s place is only secured once payment has been received and confirmed.

SCC Online may accept credit card, debit card, EFT, or other payment methods as stated on the website or invoice.

8. Fees and Pricing

All fees will be confirmed at the time of enquiry or enrolment.

Pricing may vary depending on the programme, subject, session block, cohort, or other factors. SCC Online reserves the right to update pricing from time to time.

Any confirmed fees will apply only to the specific block, programme, or period for which they were issued.

9. Cancellations, Missed Sessions and Refunds

If a student is unable to attend a scheduled session, the parent or guardian should notify SCC Online as soon as possible.

Missed sessions may not be refundable, credited, or rescheduled unless otherwise agreed in writing.

If SCC Online cancels a session, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the session or provide an appropriate alternative.

Refunds, if applicable, will be handled in accordance with the refund terms communicated at the time of enrolment or payment.

10. Academic Outcomes

SCC Online is committed to structured teaching, accountable support, and meaningful academic progress. However, we cannot guarantee specific marks, grades, examination results, university admission, or academic outcomes.

Student progress depends on attendance, effort, prior knowledge, subject difficulty, examination preparation, and other factors outside our control.

11. Online Learning Conduct

Students must behave respectfully during all online sessions.

SCC Online may remove a student from a session or programme if the student behaves in a way that is disruptive, abusive, inappropriate, dishonest, unsafe, or damaging to the learning environment.

Parents or guardians may be contacted where conduct concerns arise.

12. Technology Requirements

Users are responsible for ensuring they have the equipment and connectivity needed to access online sessions, including a suitable device, internet connection, video and audio capability, and any required software.

SCC Online is not responsible for a student’s inability to attend or participate due to poor connectivity, device failure, software issues, load shedding, or other technical problems outside our control.
